Dundonald Links Garners Two Accolades at Scottish Golf Tourism Awards
At the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, Dundonald Links won first-place Best Clubhouse and Sustainability Project awards.
The popular golf course underwent a luxurious renovation and opened for its first season in 2022. Its fresh Highlands-inspired clubhouse was met with great appraisal due to its spaciousness and Canny Crow restaurant. Guests can also visit the Scottish whisky room and enjoy tasting sessions and work out in the state-of-the-art gym equipped with a wide range of resources. Post-round relaxation is also provided by scenic views of the 18th green from the refined, opulent clubhouse.
The award for Best Sustainability Project goes to Dundonald Links, which collaborated with industry experts to create the #TGWSOOnTheGreen strategy around the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open in July 2022. Throughout the build-up and event itself,
A site-wide ban on plastics and educational messaging were among the methods Dundond Links used to promote environmental wellness. Reflo, the official clothing supplier, also played a part by providing uniforms made from recycled plastics and coffee beans and planting a tree for each birdie or better score throughout the tournament – a number that eventually came to 1,583.

Dundonald Links Toasts a Double Win at Scottish Golf Tourism Awards
“We are extremely proud to win these awards, as they are testament to both the success of our recent investments and the hard work of the whole staff here,” said Ian Ferguson, General Manager of Dundonald Links. These awards emphasize two key pillars of our strategy: world-class facilities and meaningful, long-term actions toward sustainability. We are excited about what lies ahead as we strive to keep improving.”
There is no doubt that Dundononald Links is one of Scotland’s most popular golf courses. The Kyle Phillips’ designed layout is known for its challenging bunkers and imaginative greens, earning it a place among Ayrshire’s iconic, nearby courses such as Prestwick, Royal Troon, and Western Gailes. Trust Golf’s Women’s Scottish Open, along with Final Qualifying for The Open, will once again be held at the resort in 2023.
Under new owners Darwin Escapes, heavy investment has seen Dundonald Links evolve into a full-fledged resort. A wedge shot from the golf course and clubhouse, guests can stay in modern hotel rooms or luxury self-catering lodges. A one-of-a-kind golf venue that is only growing in reputation is the Canny Crow restaurant and whisky room, a tribute to the resort’s heritage while maintaining a contemporary feel.
